Blogger Jimmy R. demonstrates how you can embed hidden files into an innocent-looking JPEG image using the free 7-Zip and the Windows command line. See more on the art of file hiding inside files in our previously posted feature, Hide data in files with easy steganography tools.

Googlebot

Публикувано от securitybg на август 15, 2007

A Googlebot is a search bot used by Google. It collects documents from the web to build a searchable index for the Google search engine.

If a webmaster wishes to restrict the information on their site available to a Googlebot, or another well-behaved spider, they can do so with the appropriate directives in a robots.txt file, and by adding the meta tag <META NAME=“Googlebot“ CONTENT=“nofollow“> to the webpage.

Googlebot has two versions, deepbot and freshbot. Deepbot, the deep crawler, tries to follow every link on the web and download as many pages as it can to the Google indexers. It completes this process about once a month. Freshbot crawls the web looking for fresh content. It visits websites that change frequently, according to how frequently they change. Currently Googlebot only follows HREF links and SRC links.

Googlebot discovers pages by harvesting all of the links on every page it finds. It then follows these links to other web pages. New web pages must be linked to from another known page on the web in order to be crawled and indexed.

A problem which webmasters have often noted with the Googlebot is that it takes up an enormous amount of bandwidth. This can cause websites to exceed their bandwidth limit and be taken down temporarily. This is especially troublesome for mirror sites which host many gigabytes of data. Google provides „Webmaster Tools“ that allow website owners to throttle the crawl rate.

Google search algorithm

Публикувано от securitybg на август 15, 2007

Google search algorithm runs on a unique combination of hardware and an advanced script in software called an algorithm. The search speed of google can be attributed in part to the efficiency of this search algorithm and partly to the thousands of low cost PCs Google have networked together to create with their bandwidth a superfast search engine.

In its early years Google introduced a new search technique known as PageRank where by top results are determined partly by how many other sites link to them with the specified query. But over the years the algorithm has become one of the most advanced and complex scripts in deciphering search relevancy, traffic count, hit threads and search duration timing and even penalising unscrupulous search optimisation efforts. Whilst the exact factors are undisclosed, the function of the Google search algorithm provides browsers and searchers fast timing and results sorted according to relevancy based a user trends and hit counts.

Whilst Google continue to claim PageRank many other factors that are taken into account and constitute the function of the program.
