Introduction

• Far from putting your favorite musician out of work, downloading free music can help you discover new artists and give you a better idea of which albums you actually want to go out and buy. But be wary. Just because a song is available online, doesn’t mean it’s legal. Try to make sure that the music you download is being offered legally by the band’s record company, or the artist themselves. Here are some tips on how to find and download free music online.

Google.org – изпълнено обещание

Когато преди почти 4 години Гугъл стават публично търгувана компания, те обещават на инвеститорите, че ще отделят 1% от приходите си за да „направят света едно по-добро място“.
Първата част от плана им вече е в действие. През следващите 3 години са предвидени до $175 млн., които да бъдат инвестирани в различни инициативи, и дори и в комерсиални проекти. Служителите на Гугъл са окуражавани да участват директно или непряко, чрез своите представители в законодателната власт, за да правят промени в политики и закони.
Инициативите, за които ще бъдат похарчените парите са в 5 основни направления:
- борба с болести и природни бедствия
- подобравяне на комуникациите с представителите на изпълнителната власт с цел да се подобри отчетността и отговорността
- подпомагане на малки и средни предприятия
- работа по източници на енергия, които са по евтини от въглищата RE<C
- инвестиции в развитието на електрически превозни средства
Сергей Брин и Лари Пейдж са си пожелали някой ден DotOrg, както те наричат фондацията си да има отпечатък върху света, по-голям от Google.com.

The Unofficial Google Web Desktop (not created by Google) brings some of the look and feel of the traditional desktop to the web by integrating with Google Docs and Spreadsheets and creating a drag-and-drop desktop interface for your documents. Launching a document opens Google Docs and Spreadsheets on top of your desktop with some ajax-y flash. Right now it’s in major need of some sort of folder structure (specifically the structure you’ve set up in Google Docs), but if you prefer the look and feel of a desktop, the Unofficial Google Web Desktop may come in handy as it develops.

Why Do You Need a Better Search Engine?

It’s early in the evening and some old school friends just called unexpectedly. They’ll be at your house in 90 minutes and you want to make a quick meal with what you have in the house. Where do you find an easy to make recipe using the ingredients you’ve got to hand (chicken pieces, onions, potatoes, cream, wine, and seasonings)? You open your browser, go to Google, and search for a recipe with these ingredients and you’re given nearly 600,000 pages. Well, that’s not a lot of help. It might take you an hour to find a good recipe among all those sites.

Gmail Storage to 6GB by January

The Official Gmail Blog has announced that Gmail’s storage counter has received a much-needed bump in its storage growth rate, which will put Gmail storage at 6GB by January 2008. Additionally, the premium Premier Edition is seeing a jump to 25GB from 10GB. We’ve covered how to free up space in Gmail (and so have you), but these storage bumps should go a long way toward keeping Google’s promise that „you’ll never need to delete another message.“

A little tutorial found on the italian site www.manuali.net inspired me for this hack. That tutorial suggests to translate a webpage, using Google translator, to access it even if restricted.

It worked fine but something else was needed… why translate?!
